Respect S.H.E

Respect S.H.E is a capacity building program aimed at empowering adolescent girls and women on prevention methods of gender-based violence, childline services, and personal safety while it also focuses on sensitizing boys and mens towards personal safety of girls and women. The project focuses on raising awareness about self-protection from all forms of abuse, negligence, and exploitation while promoting gender equality and creating a collaborative approach to fight against gender-based violence. Through self-defense workshops, roadshows, nukkad nataks (street plays), and various activities, Jagriti aims to educate and empower girls and women, enabling them to assert their rights and contribute to the Beti Bachaon, Beti Padhao campaign.

Project Objectives:

  1. Prevention of gender-based violence and personal safety:
  • Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate adolescent girls and women on prevention strategies and self-protection techniques against gender-based violence.
  • Raise awareness about the different forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and provide guidance on how to identify and respond to such situations.
  • Promote personal safety practices, including safety planning, setting boundaries, and developing assertiveness skills.
  1. Empowerment through knowledge of rights:
  • Create awareness among adolescent girls and women about their rights and entitlements, including legal protections against gender-based violence and exploitation.
  • Conduct sessions on legal literacy, helping participants understand the legal frameworks and mechanisms available to address gender-based violence.
  • Provide information on support services, such as helplines and childline services, to ensure access to immediate assistance and protection.
  1. Self-defense workshops and training:
  • Organize self-defense workshops and training programs to equip girls and women with basic self-defense techniques and skills.
  • Collaborate with professional trainers and experts to conduct comprehensive self-defense sessions, focusing on practical strategies for personal safety and empowerment.
  1. Awareness campaigns on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao:
  • Organize roadshows, nukkad nataks, and awareness activities to promote the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign and its objectives.
  • Spread the message of gender equality, girls’ education, and the importance of respecting and protecting the rights of girls and women.
  • Collaborate with local communities, schools, and organizations to amplify the campaign’s impact and reach.
  1. Behavior change program to promote gender equality:
  • Develop and implement a behavior change program targeting adolescents, youth, and community members to promote gender equality and challenge harmful gender norms and stereotypes.
  • Conduct interactive sessions, workshops, and awareness programs to foster a culture of respect, consent, and gender equity.
  • Engage boys and young men as allies in promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence through targeted interventions and education.
