FROM PATRIARCHY TO EQUALITY!!
“You’re a girl, girls can never be good singers. I don’t want to waste my efforts on you.”-This is what my uncle (who’s a Qawwal) would say whenever I asked him to teach me. His words had shattered my dreams and I had given up singing. I would not have started dreaming again if I had not been a part of PraveenLata Sansthan who supported me in my Education but also guided me and gave me the confidence to relive my dream. I recently won the first prize for singing in Baal Mela. My parents are proud of me and they have promised me a mic. on my birthday. Now, I practice singing every day along with support of the NGO and one day, I am going to prove to my uncle that he was wrong.
